About wherelegalcrypto

Editorial: Independent and information only Last reviewed 8 April 2026

wherelegalcrypto is an independent information resource on crypto legality and rules worldwide. We answer, for every country, whether crypto is legal, how it is taxed, which exchanges are available, and the rules for mining, staking, stablecoins, NFTs, DeFi, and peer to peer trading. For every major exchange, we explain where it is available and where it is restricted.

Two rules that override everything

Information, never advice. Every page states it is general information, names the relevant regulator, and tells you to verify the current rules with a qualified local professional. Crypto law changes constantly, so every legal claim carries an as of date and every page carries a last reviewed date.

Accuracy over coverage. We never invent a law, a tax rate, a regulator, or an exchange availability status. Where the position is unclear or contested, we say so. A missing page is fine. A wrong page is not.

How we review

We start from primary sources: the official regulator, the relevant statute or rule, public enforcement actions, and reputable reporting. We grade each country and each exchange and country pairing against that record, then date the review. We name the regulator and the source on the page so you can check the position yourself.

We do not predict prices, recommend buying or selling, or hype a coin or a platform. The voice is a calm legal explainer. We are the reference a careful person checks before acting, who then confirms with a professional.

How we keep the lights on

We use display advertising and affiliate links to exchanges and tools. An affiliate link appears only after the information and only where the platform is genuinely available to that country. We never present a sponsored or affiliate link as an editorial pick, and a commercial relationship never changes a legality status or an availability call. Sponsorship and guest post enquiries are handled separately on the partner page.

Common questions

Is wherelegalcrypto legal or tax advice?

No. Everything on the site is general information. We are not a law firm or a tax adviser. We name the relevant regulator and the source, date every legal claim, and tell you to confirm the current position with a qualified local professional before acting.

How do you decide a legality status?

We read primary sources first: the official regulator, the statute or rule, enforcement actions, and reputable reporting. We grade a clear status only where the sources support it. Where the position is unclear or contested, we label it unclear rather than guessing.

How do you make money?

Through display advertising and exchange or tool affiliate links, which appear only after the information and only where the platform is genuinely available to that country. We also run a separate partner line for sponsorship and guest posts. Commercial links never change a legality status or an availability call.

How often is a page updated?

Every page shows a last reviewed date. We re review the highest traffic country and exchange pages on a regular cycle and update the as of and last reviewed dates when a rule changes.

How can I report an error?

Use the contact page. Accuracy matters more than coverage here, so we would rather fix a wrong line than leave it. If a status is out of date or a source has moved, tell us and we will check it.
