How we checked this. We set this status by reading the platform's own terms of use and country eligibility, and the public register kept by the named regulator, then dated the result. Availability can change, so confirm directly with the platform and the regulator before acting. As of 26 June 2026.
As of 26 June 2026, BingX is reachable by residents of Portugal, but it holds no licence under the European Union Markets in Crypto Assets (MiCA) framework. The Portuguese authority for crypto asset service providers is the Comissao do Mercado de Valores Mobiliarios (CMVM), working with the Banco de Portugal, and the transitional period ends on 1 July 2026, after which only authorised providers may serve Portuguese clients. BingX is not authorised, so treat continued access as available with limits and verify the current position with the CMVM before acting.
Availability for Portuguese residents
As of 26 June 2026, BingX is reachable by residents of Portugal, but its standing is unsettled. Under Law No. 69/2025, the national authority for crypto asset service providers is the Comissao do Mercado de Valores Mobiliarios (CMVM), working with the Banco de Portugal. BingX is not on the list of authorised providers at the time of writing.
Portugal is part of the European Union, where the Markets in Crypto Assets (MiCA) framework requires crypto platforms to hold an authorisation, either nationally or by passporting a licence from another member state. Providers already registered with the Banco de Portugal could continue under a transitional period that ends on 1 July 2026 or when authorisation is granted or refused, whichever comes first. The European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA) has told unlicensed firms to wind down their activity in the European Union.
Because BingX is not on the CMVM authorised list and holds no MiCA licence at the time of writing, its ability to serve Portuguese residents after the deadline is in doubt. Treat the platform as available with limits and verify the current position with the Comissao do Mercado de Valores Mobiliarios before acting.
Access, verification, and products
BingX is a custodial platform, which means it holds assets on a user's behalf. Where access is available, Portuguese users complete identity verification, known as know your customer or KYC, before trading, and anti money laundering checks apply. The platform is known for copy trading, alongside spot and derivatives products.
Because BingX is unlicensed in the European Union and the deadline is close, new sign ups and certain products may be restricted for Portuguese users, and access could be withdrawn. Confirm what is offered on the platform itself and treat the authorisation position as the main open question.
How crypto is taxed in Portugal
Crypto is taxed in Portugal, with oversight from the Autoridade Tributaria e Aduaneira (AT), the tax and customs authority. In general terms, gains on crypto held for less than a year can be taxed, longer holdings may be treated differently, and professional activity is taxed under its own rules (as of 26 June 2026). Because the rules depend on personal circumstances, confirm the current treatment with the Autoridade Tributaria e Aduaneira or a qualified Portuguese adviser.

Regulator and sources
The Portuguese authority for crypto asset service providers is the Comissao do Mercado de Valores Mobiliarios (CMVM), with the Banco de Portugal, and European Union authorisation runs through the Markets in Crypto Assets framework coordinated with the European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA). - Banco de Portugal, which has supervised crypto firms for anti money laundering compliance and on the transitional arrangements under the Markets in Crypto Assets framework.
- European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA), statements on the end of the MiCA transitional period and the wind down of unlicensed activity.
- BingX, public information on the countries and products it serves.
