Is Bitfinex available in France?
As of June 2026 the position is unclear and Bitfinex is not authorised to serve residents of France under MiCA. Bitfinex does not appear on the AMF list of crypto asset service providers authorised under the Markets in Crypto Assets Regulation, and we found no French digital asset registration for the platform. France is not on the list of jurisdictions Bitfinex restricts, but accessibility is not the same as authorisation.

How we checked this. We set this status by reading the platform's own terms of use and country eligibility, and the public register kept by the named regulator, then dated the result. Availability can change, so confirm directly with the platform and the regulator before acting. As of 26 June 2026.
As of June 2026 whether Bitfinex can lawfully serve residents of France is unclear, and the platform is not authorised under MiCA. The Markets in Crypto Assets Regulation (MiCA) has applied across the European Union since 30 December 2024, and a crypto asset service provider must be authorised to offer services to residents. In France the Autorite des marches financiers (AMF) authorises providers, and the transition period for former digital asset service providers ends on 30 June 2026. Bitfinex does not appear on the AMF list of authorised providers and we found no French registration for it, so it cannot lawfully offer crypto asset services to residents here, and we do not list an exchange comparison for it on this page.
Is the platform available to residents
As of June 2026 the lawful availability of Bitfinex to residents of France is unclear. The platform is not authorised under the Markets in Crypto Assets Regulation, and a provider that is not authorised cannot lawfully offer crypto asset services to residents of France.
France is not among the jurisdictions that Bitfinex lists as expressly restricted in its terms of service, which is why we describe the position as unclear rather than an outright platform level block. What is clear is that Bitfinex does not hold the MiCA authorisation that is required to serve residents here, and we found no French digital asset registration for it under the regime that preceded MiCA. It is therefore not a compliant route as of June 2026. Confirm the current position with the AMF and the platform before acting.
The regulator and the framework
France applies the Markets in Crypto Assets Regulation (MiCA), the European Union wide framework that became fully applicable on 30 December 2024. The Autorite des marches financiers (AMF) authorises crypto asset service providers in France, working with the Autorite de controle prudentiel et de resolution. Providers that had a French digital asset service provider registration or authorisation under the earlier PACTE law can use a transition period that ends on 30 June 2026, after which a provider that is not authorised under MiCA must cease its activities (as of June 2026).
Bitfinex does not appear on the AMF list of crypto asset service providers authorised under MiCA, nor did we find it on the French register of digital asset service providers from the earlier regime. Without that authorisation the platform cannot lawfully provide crypto asset services to residents of France as of June 2026.
What this means for residents
Because Bitfinex is not authorised under MiCA, residents of France do not have a compliant route to the platform as of June 2026, regardless of whether a signup page appears to load. We cannot describe an authorised local on ramp or product set for users in France.
Residents who want to buy, sell, or hold crypto should use a platform that is authorised under MiCA to serve users in France. See the page on the best exchanges in France for platforms that hold the required authorisation.
Tax treatment
Tax on crypto for taxpayers in France is administered by the Direction generale des finances publiques, which generally taxes occasional gains on the disposal of digital assets, with separate treatment for professional activity. This page does not give tax advice. For how crypto is treated in France in general terms, see the France tax page, and confirm your own position with a qualified local professional before filing.
Bitfinex is not authorised under MiCA to serve residents of France, so we do not list it as an available exchange here and we do not link to it for users in France. Compare the platforms that hold MiCA authorisation before you choose.
