Is the platform available to residents
As of June 2026 Bybit is available to residents of France through its European platform, Bybit.eu. The position has changed over time. In May 2022 the AMF placed Bybit on its blacklist for offering services without the required registration, and Bybit later suspended custody and withdrawal services for French users.
On 14 February 2025 the AMF removed Bybit from its blacklist, and Bybit EU GmbH was granted a full crypto asset service provider authorisation, known as a CASP authorisation, under the European Union MiCA framework by the Austrian Financial Market Authority (FMA) in May 2025. Bybit then launched its MiCA compliant European platform, Bybit.eu, and moved eligible French users onto it. Bybit EU GmbH appears on the white list published by the AMF (as of June 2026).
The regulator and the framework
France regulates crypto on two main tracks. The Autorité des marchés financiers (AMF) supervises digital asset service providers, historically through the national registration regime known as PSAN created by the PACTE law, while the Autorité de contrôle prudentiel et de résolution (ACPR) is involved on the anti money laundering side. Both work alongside the European framework (as of June 2026).
Since 30 December 2024 the European Union Markets in Crypto Assets regulation, known as MiCA, applies to crypto asset service providers across the bloc, supervised in coordination with the European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA). France allows providers that operated lawfully before that date to continue during a transitional period that ends on 1 July 2026, after which a provider must hold a full MiCA authorisation, known as a CASP authorisation, to serve French users. Because this transition is underway, confirm a platform's authorisation on the AMF and ESMA registers (as of June 2026).
How residents access the platform
Residents access Bybit in France through its European platform, Bybit.eu, after completing know your customer verification, which the French and European anti money laundering rules require. Euro funding methods are offered through the European platform, and the available routes can change.
The product set offered to French users runs through the MiCA authorised European entity and is subject to French and European rules, which can limit some products compared with the global Bybit platform. The exact products, supported assets, and fee schedule change over time, so confirm what is offered to a French account on Bybit.eu before trading (as of June 2026).
Tax treatment
Tax on crypto for French residents is administered by the Direction générale des Finances publiques (DGFiP). This page does not give tax advice. For how crypto is treated in France in general terms, see the France tax page, and confirm your own position with a qualified local professional before filing.
Bybit is one of several platforms available to French residents, alongside Binance, Coinbase, and Kraken among others. Availability and funding methods vary, so compare the exchanges that are genuinely available in France before you choose.
