Is MEXC available in Thailand?

Available with limits, not licensed by the Thai SEC

MEXC is reachable by Thai residents and was not among the platforms the Securities and Exchange Commission of Thailand ordered blocked in 2025. MEXC does not hold a Thai digital asset business licence, so its local standing is limited rather than fully authorised.

Quick answer

As of 26 June 2026, MEXC is reachable by residents of Thailand and offers spot and other trading products. MEXC does not hold a digital asset business licence from the Securities and Exchange Commission of Thailand (SEC), which requires platforms that serve Thai residents to be licensed under the Emergency Decree on Digital Asset Businesses. MEXC was not among the five unlicensed exchanges that the Thai SEC ordered blocked from 28 June 2025. Owning crypto is legal in Thailand, so the open question is the platform licence rather than the legality of crypto itself. Confirm the current position with the Thai SEC before acting.

Availability

Availability for Thai residents

As of 26 June 2026, MEXC remains reachable by residents of Thailand, who can typically register, complete identity verification, and trade. MEXC does not list Thailand among its prohibited jurisdictions, and the platform is operated by a company registered outside Thailand.

Thailand regulates digital asset businesses through the Securities and Exchange Commission of Thailand (SEC) under the Emergency Decree on Digital Asset Businesses. A platform that solicits Thai customers is expected to hold a Thai licence. MEXC does not appear on the SEC list of licensed digital asset operators as of 26 June 2026, so its position is best described as reachable but not locally licensed.

In 2025 the Thai SEC filed complaints against five unlicensed offshore exchanges, namely Bybit, OKX, CoinEx, 1000X, and XT.com, and asked for access to be blocked from 28 June 2025. MEXC was not named in that action. The regulator has, however, warned that it can seek to block further unlicensed platforms, so confirm the current SEC notices before you rely on this position.

How it works

Access, KYC, and products

MEXC is a custodial platform, which means it holds the assets in your account on your behalf rather than giving you the private keys. Thai users who can access the platform generally complete identity verification, known as know your customer, before trading, and many fund accounts using stablecoins or peer to peer transfers.

Because MEXC is not licensed by the Thai SEC, Thai users carry the usual risks of dealing with a provider outside the local framework, including limited local recourse if a dispute arises. Confirm what is offered to Thailand on the platform itself, and keep records of every transaction for tax purposes.

Acting within the rules

How to act within the rules

Holding, buying, and selling crypto is legal for individuals in Thailand, so a resident is not breaking the law simply by owning crypto assets. The clearest way to stay within the rules is to use a platform that holds a digital asset business licence from the Thai SEC, since a licensed operator is supervised and must meet local conduct standards.

If you use a platform that is not locally licensed, treat that as a risk decision, keep full records, and report any taxable income to the Revenue Department. Verify the current SEC licence list and the latest block notices before you act.

Tax

How crypto is taxed in Thailand

Thailand taxes crypto for individuals through the Revenue Department, and profits from crypto trading can fall within assessable income. The government has also used temporary measures affecting crypto, so the treatment of a given gain depends on the activity and on current rules.

Rules and rates change and depend on personal circumstances, so confirm the current treatment with the Revenue Department or a qualified tax adviser. See the Thailand crypto tax page for a fuller explanation. This is general information, not tax advice (as of 26 June 2026).
