Quick answer

As of 26 June 2026, OKX is not available to residents of Thailand. OKX does not hold a digital asset business licence from the Securities and Exchange Commission, Thailand (Thai SEC), and the Ministry of Digital Economy and Society ordered access to OKX and several other unlicensed platforms blocked from 28 June 2025. In February 2026 the Thai SEC filed a criminal complaint over the operation of a digital asset exchange without a licence. Thai residents should treat OKX as not available and use a platform licensed by the Thai SEC.

Availability

Availability for Thai residents

As of 26 June 2026, OKX is not available to residents of Thailand. Under the Emergency Decree on Digital Asset Businesses B.E. 2561 (2018), a digital asset exchange that serves people in Thailand must be licensed by the Securities and Exchange Commission, Thailand. OKX does not hold that licence.

In 2025 the Thai SEC named OKX among several platforms operating without a licence, and the Ministry of Digital Economy and Society ordered access to those platforms blocked. The blocking of OKX and other named platforms took effect from 28 June 2025. In February 2026 the Thai SEC filed a criminal complaint with the relevant authorities over the operation of a digital asset exchange without a licence.

Because OKX is not licensed and access has been restricted, a Thai resident should treat OKX as not available as of 26 June 2026. The compliant route is to use a digital asset exchange that holds a licence from the Thai SEC. Confirm the current list of licensed providers with the Thai SEC before acting.

Regulation

The regulator and enforcement

The regulator for digital asset businesses in Thailand is the Securities and Exchange Commission, Thailand, which licenses and supervises exchanges, brokers, and dealers under the Emergency Decree on Digital Asset Businesses B.E. 2561 (2018). The Ministry of Digital Economy and Society holds powers to block access to platforms that operate without a licence.

The Thai SEC has stated that using an unlicensed platform leaves users without the protections that apply to licensed providers. The position on enforcement can change, so confirm the current status of OKX and the list of licensed providers directly with the Thai SEC (as of 26 June 2026).

Tax

How crypto is taxed in Thailand

Crypto is taxed in Thailand under the Revenue Code, administered by the Revenue Department. Gains from crypto can fall within personal income tax. The Thai cabinet approved a personal income tax exemption on capital gains from crypto sales made through providers licensed by the Thai SEC, reported to run from 1 January 2025 to 31 December 2029 (as of 26 June 2026).

Because OKX is not licensed by the Thai SEC, that exemption would not apply to trades made on it. Tax rules change and depend on personal circumstances, so confirm the current treatment with the Revenue Department or a qualified adviser. See the Thailand crypto tax page. This is general information, not tax advice (as of 26 June 2026).
